So in December and against my better judgement I told Maxx’s mum I would organised the decorations and theme for his party. Firstly I had to decide upon a theme which was actually quite easy as I already had batman and superman cups, plates, straws, napkins and table cloths so I decided a Super Hero party would be fun.

Rather than making the theme just Batman or Superman I decided to make it more of a general superhero theme. I made a list of items I would need which included;

FOOD

  • Sausage rolls £2.20
  • Sandwiches (rolls, ham, cheese) £4.50
  • Drinks (8 small bottles) £2
  • Sweets (skittles, smarties and bonbons) £5
  • Crisps (onion rings and sticks) £2
  • Cupcakes (12 cupcakes) £1
  • A birthday cake £5

DECORATIONS

  • Backdrop (2 rolls of wrapping paper) £2
  • Table cloth £1
  • Signs for the backdrop (Made by me) £0
  • Photobooth props (Made by me) £0
  • Straws £1.99
  • Banners £1.25
  • Balloons £1
  • A Piñata (Made by Maxx and I) £0
  • A personalised Super Hero themed picture of Maxx (Designed by me) £0.79

TOTAL: £29.73

ENTERTAINMENT

At the party we had a few games planned. There was pass the parcel, a piñata and the photobooth which was a lot of fun. The entertainment didn’t cost anything as we used some sweets that were extra as the prize for pass the parcel, the piñata was made by Maxx and I and I printed off items and used items from around the house for the photobooth props. Lots of fun at no cost!

TOP TIPS

  1. Aim to have everything done at least 2 days before the party so if there is anything you need last minute you can do it and don’t have to rush everything at once.
  2. If you’re making a piñata start making it around a week before the party as it will need a couple of layers and needs to dry in between, it then needs to be painted and decorated if you wish.
  3. Do as much as you can yourself to save money. Make your own birthday cake (I would have made one if I had more time), If you have a printer you can print signs for the walls, banners, pictures etc.

Most importantly…HAVE FUN!
