Getting on the Property Ladder

Do you own your own home or are you saving for a mortgage? A lot of people including me have the ambition of owning our own home. I’m currently saving for a deposit as I want a home to call my own, a home I can enjoy and one day raise a family in.

When I started looking at mortgages and then at properties that are available and how much they cost I came across a wealth of information with regards to buying and selling houses and it was a little overwhelming to be honest.

I was amazed at just how much there is to consider when looking to buy or sell a house. Usually there will be people who can help you make decisions and advise you along the way, of course there are family and friends but the people I’m talking about are professionals such as surveyors who will inspect the property and inform you of any potential problems, valuers whose job it is to make sure the value they give a property is correct and of course solicitors who will deal with the legal side of buying and selling a house.

My dad has bought and sold properties when moving and hasn’t had any problems when doing so but sometimes problems do occur and when you consider the cost of a property the implications of something going wrong can be far reaching. There’s always someone who can help if you do have a problem and need to make a professional negligence claims against solicitors, companies such as Redress where you can get advice about making a claim. Hopefully that won’t be necessary but it’s good to know there are people out there who can assist you if you find yourself needing help.

I can’t wait for the day I can pick up the keys to my own house but until then I will continue saving and planning because one thing I know is I will get there no matter how long it takes and that day is worth waiting for.

This is a really interesting post – thank you!

I will be buying a house in the next 5years or so and I’m terrified I won’t be able to find anything because of the prices at the moment.
