Christmas Crafts with Baker Ross

Baker rossMaxx and I love it when we recieve a craft box from Baker Ross as there are always lots of exciting things inside and we both love nothing more than sitting down for an afternoon of craft fun. With the weather getting wetter and colder our time spent outdoors is becoming less frequent so it’s great having crafts to enjoy when the weather isn’t great.

The most recent box we were sent was Christmas themed which of course we both loved and really got us into the Christmas spirit. The products in the box included, a Christmas Foam Card Kit, Christmas Hand Puppet Sewing Kit, Owl Ceramic Trinket Boxes, Christmas Sequin Decoration Kit, a packet of 120 Star Felt Stickers and a packet of 96 Christmas Pudding Stickers.

The first item we made from the box was the Christmas Hand Puppet Sewing Kit. This kit was really easy to use and Maxx was able to get involved with every part of the crafting process which is great as it keeps him interested. The first puppet we made was Rudolph, you can’t get more christmassy than that! To bring the puppet to life we had to sew the back and front of the puppet together which takes around 5 minutes, it was then time to give Rudolph some features using the sticky back felt pieces which are pre-cut to the correct shapes so it’s easy for little ones to do themselves. We had a lot of fun with this kit and as you can see we made all of the puppets over a couple of weeks. The kit is priced at £3.75 for a packet of 3.

The Christmas Foam Card Kit pack contains 3 different Christmas themed foam cards, there’s a Santa card, a snowman card and a Rudolph card. The cards are really easy to make as the shapes are pre-cut and self-adhesive, Maxx didn’t really need any help with this as he was able to use the instructions and pictures as a reference and stick the shapes in the correct place himself. The cards are really cute and colourful and would make a great alternative to a traditional card. A pack of 3 is currently priced at £1.99.

How fun are these Christmas Character Sequin Decorations! They come in a set of 3, characters include; Rudolph, a Snowman and of course Father Christmas! What better decorations than lovely baubles that are hand crafted, they create a lovely sparkle when the light hits the sequins. This item is suitable for age 5+  however I found this item was quite tricky for Maxx to do as he found it difficult to push the pins through the sequins then putting them into the polystyrene stomach. I decided to give him a helping hand by putting all of the pins through the sequins then letting him put the sequins into the polystyrene. Maxx enjoyed making these even though he found it a little difficult but it was worth it as the finished result is a set of colourful decorations that look great hanging up around the home or on the tree. A pack of 3 decorations cost £3.99.

The Owl Ceramic Trinket Boxes are really cute ceramic owls that you can decorate using ceramic pens or paints. There are 4 owls in a set which is great for the price. We had a lot of fun painting the trinket boxes, Maxx decided to be creative and use a lot of different colours to create a transformer owl. That’s what I love about messy play and being crafty, it lets children use their imagination and have a lot of fun. The trinket boxes are handy for putting small items inside to keep safe, Maxx put his baby tooth inside and thought it was great. We still have two left to paint and I’m sure we’ll get them out over the next couple of weeks. A set of 4 owls is priced at £4.48.

I recently took delivery of a chair which came in a really large box, of course as soon as Maxx saw the box he wanted to keep it. After some cutting, glueing and painting the box was transformed into a car. The car was then decorated with lots of sparkles, jewels and felt stickers including the Christmas pudding and star stickers that we were sent. The stickers are all self adhesive so there’s no messy glueing involved nd little ones are able to peel the backing off and get stickering independently. He loved the finished result and was really please with his car, as you can see it’s quite big and very colourfully decorated. The Christmas Pudding Felt Stickers are priced at £2.99 for a pack of 96 and the Felt Star Stickers are priced at £2.99 for a pack of 144. We still have a lot of stickers left which I’m sure we will use over the next couple of craft projects as they are easy to use, colourful and fun.

Overall I am highly impressed with the Christmas products we were sent, we had a lot of fun afternoons getting creative and we still have some items left! The quality of the products as always is really good and the prices are reasonable. There are thousands of craft items available on the Baker Ross website so whether you’re looking for Christmas craft items or paints and stickers head over to the website where you can see the full range of products available.
