HEALTHY NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION IDEAS

New Year’s resolutions aren’t always the best way to make a permanent change to your life. Some people start off with the best intentions, but once new year is over, they go back to the way they were before. It’s a good idea to choose just one new year’s resolution, and make it easy enough for you to stick to. For instance, instead of making your new year’s resolution to eat like a fitness model, you could make it your new year’s resolution to eat more veg and less takeaways. That is far more realistic and manageable. If you want some inspiration to help you make your new year’s resolution, here are some ideas:

Drink More Water
Do you currently drink enough water? Some people only get 1-1.5 litres a day, sometimes less, and this is nowhere near enough! Some studies say 2 litres is best, but in many cases, you should drink closer to 3 to make sure you’re hydrated enough. Don’t wait until you’re thirsty to drink. Carry a bottle with you and drink from it all day. As long as your urine is clear, you can say that you’re hydrated.

Take More Steps
There are so many different ways you can incorporate more steps into your day. Start by taking the stairs rather than the elevator everywhere you go. You can also take a short walk each morning, even if it’s just around the block. Buy a pedometer and aim to hit a certain amount of steps each day. This can be difficult if you don’t have an active job, but it just means you’ll need to get more creative. You’ll burn more fat and calories, get fitter, de-stress, and release more endorphins!

Spend More Time Away From A Screen
Many of us spend a ridiculous portion of the day facing a computer, smartphone, TV, or another kind of screen. This is really no good for our health, both physical and mental. Not only can it mess up our hormones, it can make us feel disconnected from the outside world. Aim to spend more time in the real world, focusing on yourself and your life.

Reading helps to expand the mind. Aim to read a few chapters either when you get up in the morning, or before you sleep at night. Not only should this help you to drift off (as long as it’s a real book and not a kindle), it will also help you to develop yourself and your creativity. Both fiction and non-fiction books are great!  

Take Self Care More Seriously

Aim to take self care more seriously this year than you ever have before. Get more active, and eat healthier food. Get into a good skincare routine. Do things that make you happy. Make sure you make decisions in your best interests to avoid hurting yourself. If you don’t, you could find yourself looking at personal injury claims.

Stay In Touch With Your Loved Ones
Make an effort to stay in touch with your loved ones more. Even if you just give them a call or have a 15 minute coffee catch up, it’ll cheer you both up and make you happier.
