Reclaim Your Room with Kaleidoscope

pic

I was recently contacted by the lovely people at Kaleidoscope who wanted to tell me about their exciting ‘Reclaim Your Room’ campaign. The idea behind the campaign is to reclaim a room that has become unused or unloved. For me this was my bedroom, a few weeks back my bedroom wasn’t in the best state, it needed a lick of paint and it was overflowing with boxes. It has since been given a makeover with a fresh coat of paint, the bed was spray painted white and I sorted through the boxes and managed to reduce the amount enough that they all fit neatly under my bed. It was still missing a couple of things but thanks to the Reclaim Your Room campaign that has changed and it’s now a calming room that I love spending time in.

I was given a budget of £100 to spend on the Kaleidescope website to help Reclaim My Room and turn it into a space I could relax in and enjoy. I spent hours looking at items on the website and choosing which items to get, there is a wide range of products available for different rooms of the home and prices to suit different budgets too. I chose items that would help brighten up the room and also add a bit of colour, you can see the items I chose below.

mirror

This stunning Pearl Flower Metal Mirror has to be my favourite item,  as soon as I saw it on the website I knew it would fit in perfectly with the rest of my room. It has a lovely vintage/shabby chic feel to it and was reduced from £60 to just £30. The mirror is hand painted and has a distressed finish to it, it looks even better in person and is perfect for a feature wall which is what I’ve used it for. It really changes the whole look and feel of the room and helps brightens it up.

wickerhearts

I have been admiring these lovely Willow Hearts for some time now and have seen them being used in a lot of different ways to decorate people’s homes. I was initially going to separate them and hang them in different areas of the room but I have a space between my windows that was a little plain and boring so I decided to hang them in size order and I’m glad I did as it looks great. Not such a boring wall now!

Buddha

I wasn’t sure if this Sitting Buddha would fit in with the theme of my room but I fell in love with it on the website so included it and told myself I would find a way to incorporate it, and I have! It is currently sitting on my bedside table next to my lamp, it’s such a peaceful looking statue that you can’t help but feel calm and relaxed when you look at it. I love having it next to my bed especially as the sun comes in the window next to it and it looks amazing when the light his it. It adds a touch of colour to the room that it didn’t have before.

Cushion

I seem to be amassing a small collection of cushions, I like to alternate them every now and again so when I see a cushion that’s different I can’t resist. I saw this cute Cameo Pink Cushion on the website and thought it looked lovely with the faux pearls and the pink colour matches my bedding perfectly. It looks really nice on my bed and is the perfect finishing touch, elegant and stylish.

coathanger

Storage space is a bit of an issue in my bedroom, I have a few bags and jackets that don’t fit in the wardrobe and I had nowhere to hang them up to keep them out of the way. This lovely Floral Door Hook  has been designed exclusively for Kaleidoscope, it fits perfectly over the door and as you can see from the photo you can hang quite a lot from it. It has definitely helped with the storage issue and the bags and coats are now hung up out of the way until I need them.

I love how my room looks now, it feels bright and airy thanks to the mirror, has storage thanks to the coat hooks and a splash of colour thanks to the other items. I definitely feel like I have reclaimed my room, it’s not a bedroom come storage room any more.  It’s now a bright and relaxing space where I can enjoy spending time.

Wow! Fabulous outcome! I recently reclaimed my bedroom too, it was cream with a horrible brown feature wall my 70 year old landlord thought was “stylish” lol.
