The weather recently has been fantastic! The sun has been shining which means fun trips to the park, long walks, trips to the beach and being able to hang the washing outside. There is one thing I don’t like quite so much and that’s the humidity, the humidity that seems to get 10 times worse at night.
I don’t know about you but I have been struggling to sleep for the past couple of weeks (hence this post being done at midnight) and I love my sleep. The last two days have brought thunder storms but it has yet to clear the air.
I have been trying lots of different things to try and help me get a good nights asleep. I have listed below some tips that will hopefully help you get a good nights sleep too.
Using a fan
We don’t have a fan but I have been so close to buying one! I keep wondering if it’s really worth it and then thinking about all of the extra cost of electricity but if you have a fan and are really struggling to sleep try using it for 5-10 minutes before you go to sleep, hopefully you will be cool enough to sleep.
Have a cold water bottle
If you have a hot water bottle fill it up with cold water and use it as you would a hot water bottle. This has been a huge help over the past couple of days.
Take a frozen drink to bed
Fill up a bottle with water or your favourite juice and freeze it overnight. When it’s time to go to bed take the bottle out of the freezer and take it to bed. If you wake up during the night needing a drink you’ll have a refreshing drink which will hopefully cool you down.
Take a cool shower
Take a cool shower before you go to bed. This will help you feel a lot cooler, fresher and relaxed, which will hopefully help you sleep.
Struggling to sleep is horrible so I hope there is some relief from the humidity soon. If you have any tips on keeping cool at night I would love to hear them.
