If you’re heading to the capital this Autumn and you’re looking for things to do then look no further. You would be forgiven for thinking that events and attractions stop during the autumn/winter months, but this certainly isn’t true for London. During autumn there’s a lot going on in the London, so if you’re looking for something exciting to do I might have just the thing.
If you like all things digital then why not visit Björk Digital this October. Somerset House is hosting the European premier of Björk Digital, an immersive virtual reality exhibition. The exhibition includes digital and video work which has resulted from collaborations with Björk and some of the best visual artists and programmers in the world. The exhibition includes Black Lake, Björk’s groundbreaking immersive film and the exhibition will include never before seen work. The event runs through October, which tickets priced at just £15 each and with only 25 people per show you get a more personal experience.
Dinner at the Twits
Love Roald Dahl? Love the Twits? Love theatre? Described as the most gloriously gruesome and immersive dining experience ever, it’s an event not to be missed. Buy yourself a ticket and you’ll receive an invitation which includes, a cocktail and half a bottle of wine, canapes, bristling bird pie and perilous pudding, all prepared by Mrs Twit and the Muggle-Wumps at Bompas and Parr. Plus a full 90 minutes of entertainment from the world’s worst hosts. It’s a little on the pricey side with tickets starting at £76.50, but it’s something you won’t forget, and it has had some pretty amazing reviews.
Fun Palaces 2016
The 2016 Fun Palace weekend will take place on the 1st and 2nd of October. Fun Palaces is an ongoing campaign for culture at the heart of every community. Fun Palaces are all about creating and making together, they are spaces where you will see arts, sciences, crafts and technologies all coming together. They are free and will let you learn something new, get creative or watch someone else perform a task. Fun Palaces can be created by workplaces and businesses, by communities or by individuals who want to share or show something they love. Oktoberfest in London
You don’t have to travel all the way to Munich to experience Oktoberfest, you can enjoy the experience in the heart of London this October. If you want to help celebrate Europe’s biggest festival, then head to the capital between Wednesday to Saturday where you will find attentive staff in Lederhosen and Dirndls, serving German beer, together with meat and sausages from Bavaria. There’s no entry fee so you can soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the evening spending only what you want to.
If you want to see more of the outdoors then London is a beautiful city to visit during autumn and winter. You could head down The Mall towards Buckingham Palace to see Changing The Guard. Have a stroll through Hyde Park, take a trip to Kensington Gardens or head to St James Park to see feeding time for the Pelicans. There really is so much to see and do in London during the autumn and winter months.
