If you’re looking to redecorate, update or overhaul your home interior this year but aren’t sure what’s hot and what’s not, you’re in the right place. I have listed some of the hottest home interior trends for 2016 below.
2015 was a great year for trends, there was statement lights, gold fixtures, monochrome, white on white and blue tones. I loved a lot of the trends from last year and I’m happy to say there’s an amazing range of trends for 2016. Tthere’s a real mix of old and new trends, plus some trends you don’t want to miss in 2016.
Choosing a colour scheme isn’t an easy task. You want to choose a colour that will last for a good few years and that will complement your furniture and accessories. Colours that are hot for 2016 include subtle pastel shades that are replacing neutral shades, think soft pink, mint green and duck egg blue. If pastel isn’t for you, subtle shades of grey, muted earthy tones and white on white are also big news this year.
If you like to change things regularly why not paint three walls in a neutral colour and create a feature wall by painting the fourth wall in one of the top shades for 2016. When the trend changes you can easily re-paint the focal wall to keep up to date with any new trends that you like.
Upcycling is set to continue to be big in 2016 with clashing colours and old and new pieces complimenting each other and creating an interior trend that everyone can achieve. 2016 isn’t just about updating old products, it’s also about buying items and adding a personal touch to create that unique, one off piece of furniture.
Chandeliers were big news in 2015 and although they’re still hugely popular, 2016 is the year of pendant lighting. There are thousands of pendant light designs available in a huge range of designs, sizes and colours. Baytree Interiors has some gorgeous pendant lights available that would bring any room into 2016. Another lighting trend that’s taking 2016 by storm is filament bulbs. If you haven’t seen them yet they look amazing and are a real talking point.
Home Technology Trends
Technology plays a huge roll in our everyday life now and smart technology is making it’s way into our homes. We already have apps that let you control lighting, power supply and heating, all whilst you’re away from home. There are also smart kettles that you can set to boil 5 minutes before you arrive home so you can have a cup of tea as soon as you arrive. 2016 will see technology continue to play an important roll in our homes with advances in remotely secured security systems, televisions and other home appliances. Although technology isn’t essential, it can help save time and make things a little bit easier.
