I have mentioned in my holiday plans for 2017 post that I will be visiting France soon (Disneyland Paris to be precise). I have been doing a lot of research in preparation for our holiday to make sure our trip runs smoothly and we all have a good time.
I have also come to appreciate what a great holiday destination France is. It’s such a beautiful country, there’s so much to see and do. I thought I would share 5 reasons you should consider choosing France as your next holiday location below. They are all reasons I can’t wait until our holiday in May.
One of the great things about France is how quick and easy it is to get there. Whether you choose to fly the 1 hour and 30 minutes, take the Eurostar from London, or drive over it’s easy to get to. France is a beautiful country with so many different towns & villages to explore and there are a lot of great options when it comes to where to stay for your holiday. You could choose a hotel in the centre of Paris, a b&b near the coast or you could enjoy a villa holiday in a beautiful rural location.
Generally speaking, the weather in France is similar to the weather in the UK, but this isn’t a bad thing. The weather is often hotter in France (slightly) than in the UK and there are more sunlight hours in France too. Everyone knows us Brits like to complain about the weather, whether it’s too hot or too cold so a climate similar to our own is a good bet.
If you’re a foodie then you’ll be right at home in France. We all know that France is known for some rather unique food, frogs legs and snails spring to mind. It’s also home to many delicious foods and many great cafes and restaurants. A few items you need to try if you’re visiting France include a tasty authentic crepe, baguettes, pastries, cheese, wine (okay, technically a drink but still) and that’s just to name a few. France really does have a lot to offer when it comes to culinary delights.
Of course, Disneyland deserves it’s own category because it’s that amazing! France is home to Disneyland Paris, a hugely popular holiday destination for many of us Brits. I’m heading there in May and can’t wait to visit. Disneyland is often described as a magical holiday destination for everyone, no matter what your age. There are rides galore, exciting shows, parades and there’s even the opportunity to meet all your favourite characters from much-loved Disney movies.
If you’ve never been to France before then you’re in for a treat. France is home to some amazing landmarks, museums and must visit locations. Of course, the most iconic sight is the Eiffel Tower, there’s also Notre Dame, The Louvre, Arc de Triomphe and Mont Saint-Michel to name but a few! Even if you’re not staying in the midst of all the sights, France has a great transport network and most of the sights are easily accessible via bus, train, car or the metro.
Have you visited France, or is it on your bucket list?
