5 Things to do on a Weekend Break in Liverpool

The UK has a lot of amazing cities and towns to visit and many of us enjoy weekends away visiting different areas of the country when we can. I’m not sure if it’s the cold days or the fact summer seems so long away but I have recently been looking at booking a weekend away somewhere in the UK.

There are a lot of different destinations in the UK I would love to visit, the Isle of Wight, Belfast, York and Liverpool to name just a few. If I had to choose one destination to visit next it would be Liverpool, there are a few reasons for this… it’s an area of the country I have never visited before, it has a lot of great history and some amazing beaches to explore.

I have been finding out more about what Liverpool One has to offer and I have to say I have been really impressed, there’s a lot to see and do. I have shared 5 things I would love to do/visit on a weekend break to Liverpool below, if you’re planning a trip there you might find a few ideas to add to your itinerary.

Visit the Christmas Ice Festival

If you’re heading to Liverpool this Christmas don’t forget to visit the Christmas Ice Festival at Pier Head. The Ice Festival runs from the 10th of November until the 6th of January so there’s still plenty of time to enjoy this family-friendly event. You will find a large ice skating rink, funfair rides and games, food & drink stalls and even an adrenaline-fueled ice slide! I would love to enjoy a day at the Ice Festival, it sounds so festive and a great day out for the whole family.

Grab a bite to eat at Red’s True BBQ

Who doesn’t love BBQ food?! I love trying new things so would love to stop at Red’s True BBQ to enjoy a tasty meal after a day out in Liverpool. The menu has so many delicious options, I would have to opt for Halloumi Fries for a starter, The Feast for 2+ as a main and for pudding it has to be a chocolate brownie and ice cream – yum! If you fancy trying out Red’s True BBQ it might be worth booking a table so you’re not left disappointed if they’re fully booked, with the delicious food on offer it’s no surprise they’re busy. If BBQ food isn’t your thing don’t worry, there are a lot of brilliant restaurants and bars for you to explore in Liverpool.

A fun afternoon at Mattel Play!

I would love to take my young niece and nephew to Liverpool to enjoy an afternoon at Mattel Play! it looks amazing and I know it’s something they would enjoy. If you’re planning a family trip to Liverpool with young children this would make for a great day out. Mattel Play! has three themed zones to explore including, Bob the Builder, Thomas & Friends and Fireman Sam, all firm favourites with young children.

Enjoy a day of shopping

If you want to shop till you drop then Liverpool is not going to disappoint. I would love to spend some time shopping on a visit to Liverpool, shopping in my local town is a little boring now so a shopping trip in Liverpool would be an amazing change. There are a lot of shops I don’t have access to locally including Adidas, HMV, Dr Martens, Disney Store, Lego Shop and that’s only a tiny portion of the shops I would love to explore.

Visit The Beatles Story

Liverpool is home of The Beatles and it would be a shame to visit this lovely city and not take the time to find out more about some of its rich musical history. The Beatles Story is located at the Royal Albert Dock and will walk you through the story of how four young men from Liverpool become one of the biggest bands in music history. You will be able to view exhibitions, memorabilia and exclusive photographs, you can even grab a drink or a bite to eat in the FAB4 Cafe.
