Whether you’re looking to sell your home or you simply want to make some improvements, the exterior of our homes is often one of the last places we get round to fixing/updating but it’s usually the first thing people see. Having a well-maintained home exterior will make your home stand out and look great.
If you’re not sure where to start when it comes to making improvements to your home exterior, I have listed a few suggestions below to get you started.
Freshen up your exterior walls
If your home is painted and it’s looking a little worse for wear after years of being battered by the good old British weather, then it might be time to look at freshening up your exterior walls. It isn’t an entirely straightforward task: you need to know what you are doing and you need the right kind of paint. Typical masonry paint just isn’t effective. All Weather Coating’s exterior wall coatings, on the other hand, are durable enough to protect your home for twenty five years.
Landscape your garden
In the UK, many of us have a front garden but they are often not used in the same way as our back gardens which can lead to them being neglected and overlooked. If you would like to improve the appearance of your property one of the cheapest and simplest ways to do this is to get your hands dirty with some gardening. Simple things such as cutting the grass, trimming the borders, cleaning the path, removing weeds and maintaining/replacing flowers can all help give your home curb appeal. You could choose to update your garden with artificial grass, this would create a luscious green lawn all year round which is very low maintenance and will make your home exterior look amazing!
Replace broken fencing
If your fencing has seen better days this could detract from the beauty of your property. Depending on whether the fencing is badly damaged you may be able to repair it to a high level which will still look good but if it’s not an easy fix you might want to consider a new fence. The good news is it’s possible to buy new fencing relatively cheaply, when looking for a new fence shop around and don’t forget to check local selling pages, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure after all. Don’t forget to treat your fence annually to protect it from the elements and ensure it lasts for years to come.
Jetwash your patio and decking
Your patio and decking might not look dirty but it’s incredible how different it can look after a quick clean with a pressure washer. You can choose to hire a pressure washer but they are available relatively cheaply now so you might find that you will get more benefit from buying one then you can use it regularly. Even a large area such as a patio or driveway can be quickly and easily cleaned using a patio and decking attachment.
Keep your windows clean
Windows get dirty quickly, inside and out. Dirty hands, rain, pets, general daily use, it all adds to our windows becoming dirty and means it lets less light into your home. There are many ways people choose to clean their windows from vinegar and newspaper to using one of the latest window cleaning gadget, whichever method you choose to keep your windows sparkling it will help ensure your windows glisten and this will make your home look lovely and airy inside and out. Don’t forget to clean the window frames outside too, these can often become covered in dirty and giving them a quick clean can make the world of difference to how they look.
I will be implementing some of these techniques very soon because I’m keen to have everything looking nice for Christmas. Will you be using any of the methods above to improve the exterior of your home?
