So Maxx’s chicken pox are scabbing over and I’m pretty sure that’s the worst over with, at least I hope so. It has been a struggle thinking of things to keep him entertained as he is confined to the house until his spots have cleared. One thing I have come to realise is a sick child is a bored child!
Over the last couple of days we have been filling time with DVD’s, baking, drawing, playing in the garden and doing lots of craft things to keep him entertained.
Maxx loves being outdoors so we had a play in his sand pit which he really enjoyed and thankfully the sun was shining when we were out playing. Our garden has a lot of large stones in one area so we took a stone from the garden and set to work making a stone pal.
Maxx had a lot of fun painting the stone and adding eyes and fluffy pom poms. The only part he didn’t enjoy was waiting for it to dry between coats so we used a hair dryer to speedy up the process.
If you have a sick child maybe one of the following activities will keep them occupied 🙂
- Draw/colour in
- Making cakes
- Make a picture from things you find outside
- Do a treasure hunt
- Watch TV/DVD
- Read a book
- Go for a walk
- Play a board game
- Make some home made cards
What do you do to keep your children entertained when they are poorly? I would love some ideas of things we can do this coming week.
