When you’ve got lots of time off over Christmas and New Year, or throughout the rest of the year in general, what do you usually do? It’s likely that the answer to that is nothing. If you’re prone to living in pyjamas and refusing to leave the house, you might want to shake things up a little and adopt a new view instead! Why not thinking about having a staycation instead? You don’t have to make a lot of plans or pull together a big budget; you just have to act like a tourist and head into town.

See The City With Fresh Eyes

First of all, you can allow yourself to see London with entirely new eyes. You’re probably used to darting from location to location and not really looking around you. You might never have seen the sights or purposely sought out a place to visit in the past, but now, you can. There are some awesome locations in the world, and London really is one of them. So, it’s time to start seeing it differently.

Visit The Museums

If you work long hours and your career is jam packed, the last thing you’ve probably thought about doing at the weekend is hitting up a tourist spot. But now that you’re in the staycation frame of mind, you’re going to. London has some incredible museums, each with its own selling features and rotation exhibitions. Take a look and see which appeals to you most and go along. It could be the breath of fresh air your free time has needed.

Take A Different Kind Of Tour

Having lived in London for a while now, it’s likely that you’re not going to need a regular tour of the city. You really have got it down. So, instead why not book yourself onto a different kind of tour? There are so many different kinds available from the cultural to the slightly spooky, like the Jack the Ripper Tours. You might even get to see London in a whole new light, as well as learn something new.

Eat Like A King

You might hear about new restaurant openings from time to time, but never really fancy braving the queues to see what the fuss is all about. So, you often leave them for another day. Well, that day has come. Now that you have some time off, you’re going to eat like a king. Enjoy visiting some of the best, unusual and quirky eateries that London has to offer. You might even treat yourself to a stay in a hotel and take the option of dining in style so you can get the most out of your staycation.

And All That Jazz
And then, of course, we have the shows. You don’t have to be a big musical theatre fan to love them either. If you’ve never been, your next slot of annual leave is being reserved for a night in the West End. Pick your show, book and ticket and even rope in some friends. There’s no reason why you can’t dress up to the nights and enjoy yourself like a tourist, just because you live in town.

It is very easy to miss things that are right on your own doorstep – you’ve just reminded me that it’s years since I’ve been to our local museum! It’s probably all changed by now, and I couldn’t tell you what was there the last time I went anyway!
I’ve also never been to our local wildlife park, and I could walk it there in 20 minutes!

This is a great idea, I have lived in my town for 18 years and have not visited a few of the historic areas before.
