Now that the weather is hotting up I have been turning my attention to the summer months and booking a holiday for this year. I have been itching to book a holiday this year and honestly, I’m surprised I’ve lasted this long without booking one! There’s something about having a holiday booked that makes the months leading up to it more bearable, I think it’s always nice to have something to look forward to and focus on and for me, that’s a holiday.
Last year I went to Disneyland Paris which was an amazing holiday, I also stayed at Trecco Bay in Wales for 4 days which was a lovely fun packed weekend, even if I did get sunstroke and end up at the walk-in centre – oops.
This year nothing is set in stone, I’m still not 100% sure where I want to go or when. I have a few different destinations I would love to visit, I would love to go back to Disneyland Paris but it’s not a relaxing holiday and this year I think a relaxing beach holiday is on the cards. I haven’t been to Spain so that’s another destination I would love to visit and of course there’s the added bonus of the glorious weather! Then there’s the option of a UK holiday and exploring different areas in the UK is something I really enjoy. For summer 2018 I have been looking at Devon, Cornwall and Wales as possible destinations.
I’m hoping to book a holiday by the end of April as the months are passing by so fast this year and I don’t want to leave it too late and miss out. I have been spending my evening recently browsing holidays and narrowing down the options, I have seen a few good offers on the Holiday Gem website, I know you can visit the website for cancellation holidays so I’m toying with the idea of booking a late holiday and just keeping my options open. At the moment I think the mid-end of August will be the best time to book for. Not only should the weather be at it’s best whether abroad or in the UK but I will hopefully also have lost some weight by then.
Birkenstock Marillia Nieten
As soon as I saw these gorgeous Birkenstock sandals on the Spartoo website I fell in love with them. Birkenstocks, gold and dusky pink – what’s not to love?! I think these would be so easy to pair with different outfits, jumpsuits, skirts and dresses, they would look great dressed so many different ways and they’re perfect beach footwear.
Simply Yours Crochet Tunic
When I’m at the beach I much prefer to be in the sea than sunbathing so this crochet tunic would be perfect for wearing when coming out of the water and relaxing on the beach. It’s lightweight, stylish and the perfect beach accessory for my holiday. You can find this little beauty on the Fashion World website where you can also find a lot more gorgeous beachwear.
FANTASIE AGRA Bikini
I honestly can’t remember the last time I wore a bikini, in fact, I have spent the last few years avoiding going swimming, but this year I’m determined to wear a bikini to the beach and I absolutely love this Fantasie AGRA Bikini from the Simply Beach bandeau bikinis range. I love that it can be worn with or without the straps, the floral print is a lovely design, the cups are underwired and the sizes are available up to a G cup so it’s perfect for us ladies with a bigger bust. I don’t know about you but I often feel like we get the short end of the straw when it comes to underwear and bikinis and we end up being an afterthought but this certainly isn’t the case at Simply Beach, they have a fantastic range of bikinis for DD+ sizes.
Hawkers Frozen Rose Gold Sunglasses
I have a few pairs of Hawkers sunglasses, they’re great quality, stylish and really reasonably priced. I love the pink/rose gold colour and think they would look great with the pink Birkenstock sandals. They really help to reduce glare and are also offer 100% UV protection which is exactly what I want when spending time in the sun to protect my eyes. They sunglasses for men, women and kids with a great range of colours and styles.
I have already mentioned that I overdid it in the sun last year and I’m determined not to make a repeat of that this year so I will be stocking up on sun cream and will be wearing a hat to help keep me shaded and cool in the heat. I found this lovely Straw Hat on H&M and it looks perfect, I love the fact it has the gold detail which matches the gold on the dress tassels.
NYX Pro Makeup Soft Matte Lip Cream – Stockholm
I have already mentioned that when I’m at the beach I love spending time in the water, I usually spend my dad playing with my nephew in the surf and it’s great. Because I’m in and out the water there’s no point in wearing much makeup so a bit of lippy is all I usually wear when at the beach. NYX is a great brand and the Soft Matte Lip Creams are fantastic, unlike other similar products they don’t dry out my lips and they last really well, even when eating and drinking. Next on my list of colours to buy is Stockholm, it looks like the perfect colour for summer and a day at the beach.
Pom Poms Jute Beach Bucket bag
A day at the beach often requires a few “essentials”, you know, sun cream, blanket, sunglasses, snacks, a book etc which means a large bag is essential. I absolutely love this Pom Pom Jute Bag from ASOS. As I have chosen a white beach dress this colourful bag will help add a pop of colour to my outfit. It has one large opening which is perfect for the beach and it has plenty of space for all the essentials.
Sensational Pink Champagne Gel Nail Polish
I have a gel nail kit and a few different gel nail colours but I absolutely love this Pink Champagne colour and want to add it to my collection. Gel nail varnish is a lifesaver on holiday, you can paint your nails before going and enjoy 2 weeks of chip-free nails. After all who wants to worry about repainting their nails whilst on holiday? Not me!
I would love to hear your favourite holiday destinations, I’m always on the lookout for new places to visit in the UK and abroad.
