Christmas Feature 2013

Decorating your home for Christmas with Home Bargains

I don’t know about you but I love decorating the house for Christmas, it really gets me into the festive spirit and it’s something the whole family can get involved with. We were recently sent a selection of Christmas items from Home Bargains to review (pictured above) to help us decorate the house ready for Christmas.

Before the items arrived I had decided that I would be putting a bow on top of the Christmas tree this year, a few people told me it wouldn’t look nice but I knew different! When the items arrived and there was a lovely silver bow inside I was over the moon, it was just what I had been looking for.

I can’t say I have convinced everyone but I love it and think it gives the tree a nice modern twist. Of course the bow doesn’t need to go on the top of the tree if you like the tradition of an angel or a star you could place the bow elsewhere on the tree to add a unique touch to it. The bow is priced at just 99p which is fantastic value.

We were also sent some lovely baubles and some tinsel from the Home Bargains Christmas selection to decorate the tree. We received a packet of 4 angel decorations – priced at £1.99, 4 teadrop decorations – priced at 99p,  2 winter scene baubles – 39p each, a lovely colourful bell bauble – priced at £1.29 and some silver snowflake tinsel.

The angel decorations are very cute and are a nice addition to the Christmas tree breaking up the conventional circular bauble shape. Since we don’t have an angel on the top of the tree I think the angels on the tree are a nice touch. The teardrop baubles come in a pack of 4 and contain two white baubles and two silver baubles, again they break away from the tradition of circular shapes which I think is nice and they really catch the Christmas tree lights when they are on. Maxx’s favourite items from the selection we were sent were the two winter scene baubles which open up so you can put things (Maxx’s said sweeties) inside. The baubles feature a lovely winter scene and look lovely on the tree. The Bell Bauble is really nice, it is multi coloured, looks fantastic on the tree and jingles when shaken – a feature Maxx loves! If you’re having a colourful tree this year or need a touch of colour then this bauble would be perfect. The tinsel is really nice, it is silver with snowflake shapes attached, the tinsel doesn’t shed and looks great. Maxx decided to use it to decorate his bedroom as he really liked it.

The Baubles and tinsel are all very reasonably priced, well made and there is a lovely selection to choose from. So whether you have a colour theme or are going for modern or traditional there should be something to help decorate your tree at Home Bargains this Christmas.

I don’t know about you but I love all of the decorations at Christmas, not only in my home but out and about in the local community and town. It’s lovely to see everything lit up with fairy lights and glistening, I would love to visit Toronto at Christmas and visit The Well development, it looks incredible and I would imagine it’s beautiful at Christmas time. You can see more about it here, I bet you’ll want to visit too after seeing it.

We were also sent a lovely card holder which is not only very practical but looks great on the wall and priced at 99p it is a fantastic buy. I love the pegs that come with the card hanger ,they have different designs and it really adds a quirky touch to hanging Christmas cards – I love it. It is by far one of the best card display/hangers I have seen in recent years and has a really shabby chic feel about it.

If you are looking for Christmas table decorations then there is a lovely range of those available too. We were sent a glittery Christmas tree – priced at 59p and two glittery sleighs – priced at £1.79 each. The sleighs are great table decorations and would be perfect for filling with sweet treats this Christmas.

We were also send some fun Magic snow which I forgot about as Maxx used it as soon as it arrived! The Magic Snow is a lot of fun and easy to use, simply place the snow in a bowl add some water and it expands – a lot! Maxx loved playing with it and it is well worth the 99p price tag!

If you are looking for Christmas decorations for the home or the tree Home Bargains is sure to have something you will love. I was surprised by the choice that is available. There are colourful items, modern items & traditional items and the items don’t cost the earth, bargain. Home Bargains!

I like spray painting ordinary objects in the colour scheme I want that year -this year is gold and purple- fircones ,dried berried , strings of pasta tubes, and strings of popcorn .The top of the tree have a freshly made angel made by the children each year . it can look stunning and costs very very little.
