Festivals! The one time of the year you can gather all your friends together and enjoy multiple bands in a venue full of amazing food, drink and people you’ll likely never meet again! From Glastonbury to Reading, festivals all over the UK are nothing short of exciting. You don’t want to die feeling as if you have only half-lived, so festivals should 100% be a part of your life. The thing is, you need to be careful with festivals. There are checklists as long as your arm that you could look at and STILL forget something crucial.

To that end, I’ve put together a list of festival must-haves to make sure you’re equipped and not that person paying over the odds for wellies because you’ve turned up in heels! It doesn’t matter if you’re a seasoned festival attendee or you’re the newbie of the group, you are bound to forget something you need. So, check out the list of things you need to know for your festival weekend:

There’s more than the main stage. If you’ve been to a festival before, you’ll know how important it is to get a look-in at the main stage. It’s so not just about that! On the outskirts of a great festival, you can find stand-up comedians, dance arenas and new musicians who could catch your ears.

Bring bin bags. Yep, you read that right. Bin bags are a thing for festivals, and not just for rubbish or to save your sleeping bag when your tent springs a leak. They can make for excellent ponchos when it inevitably starts pouring down as the Great British weather does!

Speaking of tents, yours should be more than just a small triangle to host you for the weekend. If you are driving as a group in a campervan, investing in this kind of awning found here can make life SO much easier for you all. If everyone pitches in, you can easily have a comfortable place to sleep and are a lot less likely to find yourself seeing stars through the canopy!

Toiletries need to be limited. You don’t want to be bogged down by bags and bags of stuff, so head for the dry shampoo and freshen up wipes instead of a full medicine cabinet of soaps. Pack an extra toilet roll, too, while you’re there. There’s nothing worse than running out!

Water is your friend and not the water in the wellies! So many festival locations are promoting water and even Glastonbury has teamed up with WaterAid to keep festival goers hydrated with more than just alcohol. Bring along reusable water bottles so you can save yourself some cash.

Festivals needn’t be a place you waste money and lose your belongings. The key is to pack effectively and stay as safe as possible. Stick with your friends, travel in a group and you can make sure you have the most epic festival experience of your life.
