One of the main draws of Europe is Russian culture, it’s a beautiful country with friendly people and lots to see and do.
What is Russian cultural identity?
While Russians and different western historians like bragging about Russian culture and its influence, when it comes to modern Russia they all lack the courage to admit one simple fact, Russian culture was largely destroyed in Soviet times. What is left may be considered the influence of two dead cultures, one being Russian culture, while another being Soviet culture.
So, what can be said about Russian cultural identity, considering everything above-mentioned? Well, adding the fact that modern Russia is a mixture of different cultures and nationalities, we can assume that cultural identity there is limited to the Russian language.
How are Russian women affected by culture?
Russian women differ from western women in certain aspects. The first being that Russian women are very family-oriented. It can be explained by the fact many young girls growing up in Russia are taught to be homemakers. Moreover, Russia was never impacted by feminism.
From a very young age, they are taught to help around the home with duties such as cooking, cleaning and tending to younger children when old enough.
Is there a mystery?
It feels like the first two parts of the article contradict each other a bit. Actually, it comes as no surprise as Russian culture is contradictory in its nature. On the one hand, people from Russia are united by nothing more than the language, on the other hand, they believe that they are representatives of one of the most influential cultures in the world. So, yes, there is a mystery, which lies in the fact that there is no such thing as Russian culture and there is such thing as Russian culture at the same time.
