Summer is almost here (hoorah) and with some good weather already underway, there’s no better time than the present to plan that summer wardrobe.
- Work Out Your Schedule
Before you go on a much-needed shopping spree, it’s a good idea to check your calendar to see what events you’re going to be attending this summer. From weddings to the races, these key social events will determine what should be prioritised in your wardrobe.
- Go Through Your Spring Wardrobe
If you’re still clinging on to your winter woollies just in case the temperature dips again, now’s the time to have a thorough sort out and put them away for a good few months (we should at least have decent weather for this long, shouldn’t we?).
Bring out all of your summer/holiday clothes that have been hiding away for what feels like centuries and throw out (or donate to charity) those pieces that are so last season.
Once done, you should be able to put together a shopping list of essentials.
- Do Some Research
When you want to stay one step ahead of the trend, you’ll need to flick through various magazines to see what’s going on in the world of fashion. Pick out key colours and styles for this season (I’ve heard bright colours, elegant floral patterns and even rubber – yes, rubber – are in this season!) and add these must-haves to your shopping list.
- Shop ‘Till You Drop
Alternatively, if you like to while away the hours shopping, you should get a good idea of what’s in and what’s not after a browse through several high street shops.
Mooch around and get a feel for the types of outfits you could put together from what’s on offer. If your current wardrobe is seriously lacking in summer clothes, try to pick up a few basics (e.g. t-shirts, vests, leggings and so on) so you can mix and match with other more expensive items to create standout looks.
Choosing a few key pieces can soon bring your wardrobe to life.
- Finish with a Spritz of Perfume
OK, so this isn’t a wardrobe item per se, but it is whole-heartedly essential for bringing together your outfit. After all, what could be more summery and inspired than a dash of zesty fragrance from the likes of Miller Harris?
Choose something that reflects your personality but remains in keeping with the light, freshness of the season.
And voila, you’re ready to fly out the door like a warm summer breeze!
