This winter has had a bit of everything, in fact, I think we have had all four seasons already! We had the bitterly cold weather at the start of February which brought snow, sleet and even freezing rain – all the good stuff. Then we had a mini heatwave towards the end of February and we’re currently in the middle of yet another storm with wind and rain galore. I have to admit that I do enjoy a snow day or two, being Scottish it’s in my blood but I am looking forward to the warmer weather. Unfortunately, according to the weather forecast, we have a little while to wait for our next heatwave so we can’t discard our coats and jumpers just yet. At the start of winter, I was given the opportunity to work with Simply Be to review some of their clothes, you can see what items I picked and what I thought of them below.
Simply Be is a company I have been aware of for a while but I had never purchased anything from their store, there was no particular reason for this other than I’m a creature of habit and tend to gravitate towards the same shops time and time again. Because I hadn’t shopped with Simply Be before I wasn’t sure what to expect when browsing their website for a few items to review but I was pleasantly surprised. I noticed their sizes range from 12-32 and I love the fact it makes their items accessible for the many and not the few.
The first item that caught my eye was a lovely teddy coat, it looked so warm but unfortunately, I wasn’t the only person who thought so and it was out of stock in my size. Thankfully that wasn’t a problem because there was a huge choice available and I found three other jackets I really liked, so much so that it took me a while to decide on which one I wanted. In the end, I opted for the lovely pink parka jacket with faux fur hood (pictured) and I absolutely love it. I have been wearing it for a few months now and it has kept me warm and dry in the wind, rain and even snow. I love the cosy faux fur hood, the deep pockets and the drawstring waist means I can pull it in when necessary or leave them loose and give it more of a relaxed look.
The next item I decided to look at was the range of jeans, I can more often than not be found wearing jeans whether that be in the summer or winter so this was an easy choice. I like ripped style jeans so when I found a lovely denim pair of jeans with a rip above the knee I knew they would be great and easy to style with a lot of my existing outfits. The only downside was that I mistakenly thought the jeans were skinny jeans which would be worn inside the boots, unfortunately, I hadn’t checked properly and they actually sit on top of the boots but I love them regardless. I found the sizing to be generous and perhaps would have gone a size down for these particular jeans but I’m really in between sizes at the moment so that might be why. They have been washed several times since I received them and they have kept their shape and colour so I’m really impressed with them and have my eye on a few other pairs of skinny jeans for the summer season.
The last item I decided to look at was shoes, who doesn’t love a new pair of shoes?! I already mentioned above that I’m a creature of habit and this is true when it comes to shoes too. My shoe of choice is a pair of flat boots, or as low to the ground as I can get, I’ve never been one for wearing high heels or high shoes. It didn’t take me long to find a beautiful pair of flat leopard print Chelsea boots which I knew would be perfect for any season. I actually found a gorgeous pair of kitten heels also in leopard print and I’m eyeing them up for the summer months.
I recently noticed Simply Be offer unlimited delivery for a year for only £9.95 which I think is great, especially since you can order until 11 pm for next day delivery! There have been many occasions over the last couple of years where I have needed an outfit for the next day and I have had to make a mad dash to town so this is definitely something I will be considering, especially since there are a few items on my Simply Be wishlist for summer.
