London Fashion Week AW’16 marked the turn of another season, from minimal summery trends, into the season of layering, coats, boots, and of course limitless accessorises. LFW offers a glimpse to fashionistas and buyers into the upcoming trends we can expect to see lining shop windows for the next several months.
I do love when the cooler air sets in and the winter coats come back down from the attic. I’d say winter sunglasses are just as important and key to this season, particularly on those sharp, sunny mornings as the sun begins to rise.
In this blog, I want to take a look at the LFW eyewear trends, and give some cheaper alternatives to emulate these looks. All the looks included in the blog today are by Tesco Opticians, home of high-street & designer glasses and contact lenses.
The first trend set to take A/W by storm is the dramatic black sunglasses frame. The chunky and intense black frames are the perfect winter accessory, great for those crisp sunny mornings. Below is a really cool round pair of Lipsy 41 sunglasses from Tesco Opticians. This style looks great when worn with striking patterns, as demonstrated by Anna Wintour below.
Oversized and Embellished
The next trend that emerged from LFW’16 is the oversized and embellished sunglasses that you can see showcased below in Anya Hindmarch’s show. The oversized almost chunky pair is contrasted with the subtle embellishment on the corner of the frame. I love this look and you can get an almost exact high-street version from Tesco Optician, see VW243 by Vera Wang in Olive below!
The last trend that came out of the week-long celebration of autumn/winter styles was the cool, cat eye. Another really timeless style in my eyes (pardon the pun) but nonetheless gracing the catwalks with continued quirky class as you can see below at the Charli Cohen show this year. Whether you chose these as sunglasses or prescription glasses, they are the perfect AW accessory to pair with woollen duster coats, and sleek pony tails. This black pair by Iceberg 137 glasses from Tesco Opticians demonstrates the perfect cat eye look with their upswept shape!
So when you’re getting your winter knits and autumn boots out, don’t forget to pair them with the perfect eyewear trends for AW.
Failing that, if on the days you just don’t want to wear any then why not go for a super cool coloured contact lens?
