House plans 2017

I can’t believe how fast this year has gone. I know that’s such a cliche thing to say, but it’s true. I can’t complain about 2016, I moved into my new house, work has been good and I have had a lot of great days out and made lots of lovely memories.

Recently, I have been thinking about what I want to achieve in 2017. One of the things I want to do is to make my house more homely. I want to decorate, buy the last items of furniture I need and try to find a place for everything so I can be more organised. Below I have written a list of my house plans for 2017, I really want to have it exactly how I would like it by the end of 2017.

At present my walls are all cream. That’s fine, I don’t mind cream as such but I am planning to paint them white in 2017. Unfortunately, I can’t paint them until May or just after because I’m in a new build property and the builders need to be able to see if there are any cracks etc after a year. I don’t mind waiting as there’s plenty for me to be doing in the meantime and white will go with any colour scheme I choose.

Although I have been here 6 months now, there are still quite a few items I need to buy. I need a new TV unit and a new TV, my dad kindly borrowed me the TV from his bedroom until I bought one and although I could have bought a TV before now I have been holding off until the January sales because they will go down in price then, and who doesn’t love a bargain?! I also need to buy a dining table and chairs, a microwave, maybe a smaller computer desk (I’ve not quite decided on that yet, I did tell you I was indecisive, lol) and that’s just off the top of my head. Plus, there are a few items that aren’t essentials but that I would like, such as a shoe unit for near the front door, extra shelves for the bathroom cupboard etc.

Decorative Items

At present, my home isn’t very ‘homely’. The walls are lacking in character and it’s a bit minimalist. It’s been over 6 months since I moved in, but I still don’t know, and yes I really am that indecisive. Just ask my family and friends. The reason behind this is the fact I still don’t know what colour scheme I want in each room. I have a few ideas, grey, pink and copper for the bedroom, white and chrome for the kitchen, and maybe grey, black and white for the living room but when it comes down to it I just can’t commit. I don’t want to choose, buy everything, and then change my mind a month later. But at the same time, I don’t want to still be in the same situation another year down the line. I might just have to go for it and hope for the best. I have created a few Pinterest Decor Inspiration Boards so I can keep my ideas in one place, it has been a great place for finding ideas and inspiration.

When I moved in my dad and I worked really hard to put down wooden flooring in the living room and bedroom. And not to blow my own trumpet, but we did a pretty good job. The kitchen and bathroom both have lino down at the moment and although it looks okay, I would like to change the link in 2017, especially in the kitchen. I have looked at what flooring I like and have seen a lot of nice colours, I found some in store at a local DIY shop that I liked and also some on amtico flooring that looks lovely.

I’m really hoping I can come back to this post and update yu all during 2017 to say that I have managed to tick everything off the list. I will share a post once everything has been finished so keep your eye peeled for that during 2017. If you have a nice colour scheme ideas, please do let me know below, I would love some more ideas.

I was the same with knick knacks as my mum calls them, I just buy them as I find something I like. I’ve been in this house for four years, and still haven’t finished finding things for particular spaces x
