Degustabox August

I’m back with another tasty review from Degustabox! It’s hard to believe it’s time to talk about my favourite monthly subscription service again, this year is passing by in the blink of an eye.

If you haven’t come across Degustabox before, it’s a monthly food subscription service. When you sign up and pay the subscription you will receive a box of food and drink items to your door each month. The items inside will be different every month and the content of the box will always be worth more than the subscription charge, so you know you’re getting value for money. It’s a great service and perfect if you like trying new products and shaking things up in the kitchen.

mug cake

You have probably heard of mug cakes and maybe even tried to make one yourself. It can be messy trying to get the correct amount of ingredients for the size of mug, I ended up with half the mixture on the microwave plate when I tried making it for the first time. Thankfully, DR. Oetker have taken the guess work out of it and have a new product, Mug Cakes! So simple you can’t possibly go wrong! The mug cakes come in individual sachets and in three different flavours; Rich Chocolate, Chocolate Chip and Lemon. You can enjoy a delicious cake in under 2 minutes, simply pour the content of the sachet into a mug, add milk, microwave and enjoy. They are delicious and so quick!

Life Tonics

I hadn’t heard of Life Tonics before I received it in this months box. I found out it’s a hydration plus drink, it contains coconut water, natural fruit extracts, 5 vitamins & 4 minerals. There are no refined sugars or artificial sweeteners making it a good alternative to other similar drinks on the market. I’m not a fan of coconut so wasn’t keen on this but that’s down to personal taste rather than the product itself.

Ryvita Crispbread

When Ryvita first released their range of crispbreads I was sure I wouldn’t like them so I didn’t try them for a long time. When I eventually gave them a try I was in for a pleasant surprise, I really liked them! I normally buy the hint of chilli crispbreads so was looking forward to trying the two flavours that came with this months box. I received cracked black pepper and sesame. I really liked both flavours which I was surprised about as they are flavours I wouldn’t normally choose. Crispbreads make a great healthy lunch, just add your favourite toppings and enjoy!

Bahlsen biscuits

The first item from the Bahlsen range I tried was the PiCK UP dark chocolate bars. I’m not a huge fan of dark chocolate but these were delicious and didn’t last long at all – oops! They are really tasty and they definitely help with a chocolate craving! I will definitely be picking these up again.

The second Bahlsen item in this months box was the Choco Leibniz biscuits and like the other item from the range these didn’t last long. The base is a tasty cocoa biscuit and the top is a creamy white chocolate, so delicious and perfect with a cup of tea!

Walker biscuits

You might have noticed biscuits were a bit of a feature in this months box, not that I’m complaining! Shortbread is one of my favourite types of biscuits so I was really looking forward to giving these a try and I wasn’t disappointed, they were delicious! They are a little posher than your normal biscuit and perhaps tastier too! Perfect for lunch boxes or an evening treat.

Primal Pantry

Breakfast bars and snack bars are big business, they’re great for grabbing on the go or when you want a healthy afternoon snack. Primal Pantry want to make great tasting food accessible to everyone and they have certainly achieved that with their bars. The bars are raw and cold pressed, they’re handmade in the UK to the highest standards and are also naturally gluten and dairy free! If you like raw bars, you’ll love these.

Scheckter OrganicEenergy

SCHECKTERS OrganicEnergy

I don’t drink a lot of energy drinks but I do enjoy the odd one every now and again. OrganicEnergy is the only 100% natural, organic and informed sport approved energy drink available in the UK. It’s a sparkling spring water with organic pomegranate, elderberry and lemon juice. It’s has a really fruity, refreshing taste and is something I would buy again if I was looking for an energy drink.

Pasta meals are a favourite of mine, especially in the colder months as it’s a great comfort food so I was happy to see some pasta and sauce in this months box. I decided to make pasta & meatballs with the products because it’s a meal I enjoy but don’t have often. The penne pasta was really nice and the Arrabbiata sauce was delicious! The sauce is tomato and chilli, it has a lovely kick to it which was perfect with meatballs and I will definitely be picking this up on my next shopping trip. I’ve found a keeper!
