Review: Fellowes Powershred 63Cb Cross-Cut Shredder

When I move I’m hoping to have space to create a small home office space so I can have a designated work area and feel a little more organised. I was recently sent the perfect item for home/home office use, the Fellowes Powershred® 63Cb Cross-Cut Shredder which is great for staying on top of paperwork.

In this day and age a shredder is an essential item to help destroy documents which contain personal details, nobody wants to be the victim of identity theft. I receive quite a lot of paperwork, most of which contains personal details that I don’t want anyone to get a hold of. I find shredding is the most effective way to destroy sensitive documents quickly and effortlessly and I know that my details are safe.

The great thing about the Powershred 63Cb Cross-Cut shredder is the fact it can shred up to 10 sheets of paper at a time, it is also capable of shredding staples, credit cards and paper clips which means I don’t have the laborious task of removing staples before I can shred items. This means I have more time to spend on other tasks.

Key Features:
19 litre pull-out bin for easy emptying
Shreds up to 10 sheets of paper at a time
Jam Blocker feature stops jams before they start
Shreds for up to 8 minutes before it needs to cool down
SafeSense technology stops shredding when hands touch the paper entry
Energy saving reduces in-use energy consumption and powers down when inactive

The shredder has an on/off switch located at the back of the machine, it also has a switch on the front which lets you put the shredder in auto mode, turn it off and also features a reverse button. As well as the on/off switch there is a digital display which shows different icons such as an icon to tell you the drawer is open, an icon to indicate the SafeSense technology has been activated, an icon to tell you to remove the paper, an icon to indicate overheating and an icon to tell you the shredder is powered on.

There are a lot of great features to the shredder, my favourite feature is the SafeSense technology which automatically stops shredding when it senses hands are near the paper entry. This is especially great if there are inquisitive children around as it gives peace of mind that the shredder will automatically stop if they accidentally touch the paper entry.

Another great feature is the Jam Blocker which stops jams before they start by telling you if there is too much paper in the shredder or if an item you are trying to shred cannot be shredder. This helps prevent jams which can be extremely time consuming to fix.

Overall I am highly impressed with the shredder. It is perfect for my needs for home and home office use, it is quiet to run and looks might not be important with a shredder but this shredder has a sleek look and will fit in with any decor. The shredder helps give peace of mind that documents are safe thanks to the clever cross-cutting technology which shreds each A4 sheet into 4x50mm cross-cut particles. If you’re looking for a shredder I would highly recommend you take a look at the Powershred 63Cb.

The shredder comes with a 2 year machine warranty and a 5 year cutter warranty. It is priced at around £130 and is available to buy from Amazon, Ryman and other good stockists.

shredder2* I received the Powershred for the purpose of writing an honest review of the product. All opinions are my own.

I keep all my shredding in bags at the moment and then take to my Mum’s as she has a shredder and I don’t. It accumulates really quickly.
