Russia may not be everyone’s first choice for a holiday getaway, but it offers far more than people expect; Russia has one of the most stunning landscapes in the world and has rich culture and great food. Here are some facts and tips on exploring Russia: 

Where to Stay in Russia 

Russia covers almost one-seventh of the total landmass of the whole world. It has about 8 times zones because of its massive land size. So, where should you stay during your visit? While there are lots of places to explore in the big country, you must not miss out on staying in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

Aside from the wonderful Moscow, St. Petersburg is another great city to take a tour around. St. Petersburg is where the royal Tsar family lived 300 years ago. If you want to have a glimpse of being a royal, you may want to check out St. Petersburg’s palaces and museums. 

A must-visit palace is the Hermitage or more commonly known as the Winter Palace. It is where the Tsars lived. You should also visit the churches and cathedrals. Some of which are the Kazan Cathedral, Isaac’s Cathedral, and Tserkov Spasa na Krovi or Church of the Savior. Last but definitely not the least, do not miss to see the Peter and Paul fortress or Petropavlovskaya Krepost in Russian. It is where the city was founded by Peter the Great.  

Try Out the Trans-Serbian Railway Tours 

If you are in for travel outside Moscow and St. Petersburg, you may embark on an unforgettable journey along the Trans-Serbian Railway. There are 3 routes: Moscow to Vladivostok, Moscow to Beijing that passes through Mongolia and Gobi Desert, and Moscow to Beijing passing by Manchuria.

To complete your Russian experience, also try their delicious cuisines. For those who are health conscious, choose golubtsy, which is boiled cabbage with minced beef and sour cream on top.
