The Royal Baby – It’s a Boy!

Congratulations to William and Kate on the arrival of their baby boy!

Today has seen the UK and most of the world captivated by the same story. Kate Middleton went into labour early this morning and everyone has been excited about the imminent arrival of the future King or Queen.

Since the news broke that Kate was in labour the news channels have been providing live coverage from the hospital and Buckingham Palace. I have spent most of today watching the news waiting for the announcement along with many others.

There was huge excitement when it was announced that Kate and William had become parents to a little boy and both mother and baby are said to be doing well. The baby was delivered at 16:24 at St Mary’s hospital in London. No longer will they need to worry about creating an heir and how to get pregnant with a boy.

The traditions is that a royal birth is announced via a bulletin on an easel at Buckingham Palace, however prior to the easel being displayed the news was released to the media in an e-mail. The easel was then erected at Buckingham Palace, the document reads: “Her Royal Highness, the Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 4.24pm today. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.”

The next big announcement will be the name of the baby, although there is no telling exactly when this will be announced so the excitement continues!

I am guessing the baby will be called Alexander, what do you think the baby will be called?
